We as a whole realise that there are a huge number of ways that you can appreciate weed. Kick back and vape, smoke, drink or eat it, there is something for everybody. Be that as it may, shouldn't something be said about the various types of cannabis?
Rosin is a solid form of resin obtained from dry herb, plants, nuts and flowers, produced by applying large amounts of pressure to the starting material whilst also applying heat to extract the concentrated terpene components. The same can be done with cannabis.
WHAT IS ROSIN?
Rosin is a cannabis concentrate extracted from the plant using the combination and simplicity of heat and pressure. This form of cannabis is in popular demand, mostly down to its high levels of THC (or tetrahydrocannabinol to be very specific), which can range from 40% to over 90%. Let’s just compare that with potent cannabis flower strains which have a THC range of 10-25%. As you can see the difference in potency is huge, making it a highly sort after product.
What makes rosin different from other concentrates?
So, we know that there are a huge variety of concentrates that you can get hold of, but what is so great about rosin? And why is it suddenly what everybody is talking about? The answer is one word: solvents. Most other concentrates are prepared using solvents such as butane, propane and CO2 but rosin doesn’t use any of these, meaning that you have a chemical-free form of high potency cannabis. And even better, it can be made from the comfort of your own home. In minutes. Yes, minutes. It will probably take you from start to finish around 15-20 minutes to create your own rosin.
What are the benefits of making your own rosin?
Making rosin with a rosin press is super quick and the perfect introduction to making cannabis from concentrate if you’re an amateur. By looking at some of the machines it feels like its a rocket science to be able to operate them, funny enough its quite simple to use, with the help of our Team we can give you all the assistance you need. A rosin press controls the pressure, temperature and time, giving you control over the quality of the end result.
Using a rosin press is pretty much the safest way of making concentrated cannabis. Other forms of concentrated cannabis use highly flammable chemicals such as butane, alcohol or carbon dioxide. There is a serious risk of explosion when using these materials, and there have been incidences where people have been injured during the process. A rosin press eliminates any risk of such incidences, making it a safe way of extracting cannabis from the comfort of your own home.
What sort of yields should you expect ?
Once you get a hang of how to use a rosin press, you will find out its one of the most easiest things to use, you can expect to get a yield from 25-30%.
Is having a Rosin Press cheaper than buying your own rosin?
Making rosin is going to be far cheaper than buying rosin, and that’s even accounting for the initial investment of a rosin press. Plus, the whole set up is far cheaper than a solvent based set up.
How do you make a Rosin?
The best way of making a rosin is with a Rosin Press. A rosin press machine uses immense pressure from two heated plates, extracting the essential oil from the plant material to create solvent-free concentrated cannabis.
Choose your selected flower and place this inside a Rosin bag and put it in-between the heated rosin plates, usually we recommend to press around 120°- 150° Celsius depending on what you are pressing. In our experience, higher temperature will will have less flavour and terpenes but a larger yield and Lower temperature will give you more honey consistency looking yield with more flavour. We would say that your first few pressing will be a bit of experiment for you to see what work best for your needs.
WHICH ROSIN PRESS IS SUITABLE FOR YOU?
Choosing a rosin press might be a bit of a headache, especially if you are completely new to it.
What is your budget?
Our Rosin Press Machines can go from £250 - over a hundred thousand. If you intend to get something for personal use, maybe press about 3-5 grams at once, we would suggest the DP9 Mini or the DP9 Pro for those who prefer automatic.
If you are looking to press around 12-15 grams at once, we would recommend the
If you want something with a bit more power and looking at pressing 20 grams and above, the S15 or DP250s will do the job.
